1. What stays on your device
The following never leaves your iPhone or iPad:
- Your books. EPUBs, PDFs, TXT and Markdown files you import are stored in the app's sandbox and processed locally.
- Generated audio. Narration is synthesized on‑device. We never receive the text of what you're reading or the audio of what you're hearing.
- Bookmarks, highlights and progress. Stored in the app's local storage and (optionally) synced through your private iCloud account, which we cannot read.
- Reading streaks and time‑of‑day reminders. Scheduled by iOS locally. We do not know whether you read today.
2. What we do collect
Anonymous crash reports
If the app crashes, we receive an anonymous diagnostic report through Apple's standard crash‑reporting service. It contains a stack trace and device model — never your books, your text, or any personal identifier. You can disable this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Aggregate usage counts
We count anonymous events like "the app launched" or "a book was imported" to understand which features are healthy. No content, no titles, no user IDs.
Support emails you send us
If you email hello@pagepod.app, we keep that thread until the issue is resolved.
3. Third parties
- Apple. The App Store handles purchases, subscriptions, and crash reporting under Apple's privacy policy.
- iCloud (optional). If you enable iCloud sync, your library is stored in your own iCloud container. We have no access to it.
- No ad networks, no analytics SDKs, no fingerprinting.
4. Subscriptions & billing
The free trial and any subsequent subscription are managed entirely by Apple. We receive a receipt indicating that some device has an active entitlement — but not your name, email, or payment details. Cancel any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
5. Children
PagePod isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Because almost nothing about you is stored on our servers, most "right to access" or "right to delete" requests resolve themselves: deleting the app removes your data. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to delete that thread at any time.
If you're in the EU, UK, California, or a similar jurisdiction, you have rights under GDPR / CCPA — but you'll find we hold almost nothing to exercise them against. We're happy to confirm this in writing.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll bump the date at the top and notify you in‑app. The previous version stays available on request.
